I've been using my Nikon Monarch Binoculars for a few years now, and I am extremely happy with them. Optics and personal preference seem to be the foremost, but here is a list of issues you should consider.
While cleaning your binoculars, you should take care to see that no cleaning mark or scratch is left on the surface of the lens. Binoculars bring the tiny colored creatures into better focus. Boaters and those that enjoy the water will want the waterproof or fog proof models.
Such lens cloths take even fingerprints and stains of all sorts off your binocular lens. Cost is another factor to consider. The first number gives the power of the magnification and the second number tells the diameter of the objective lens in millimeters which measures its light gathering strength.
Pocket binoculars are specially designed to resist dust, dirt, rain, mist, splashes, sun, or snow. But you d better make sure that they have the proper range, power and clarity. Some binoculars come with special fire coating on the lenses.
Enjoy your new binoculars and spend as much time as you can in the field. Binoculars are wonderful for any sporting events, or children's activities.
